SYC Governor’s Cup: New Smyrna Beach, Florida Lake Placid Race
When dreary winter weather starts to wear thin on you in a few months, there’s no place like Sunny Florida in April for a fun CCWBRA race!
The Governor’s Cup, will be held by Smyrna Yacht Club in New Smyrna Beach on Saturday, April 9th. Sign up now!
Race Registration is $65.00 for early registration and will go up to $75 after March 30th! There is NO same day or on-site registration for this event.
SCHEDULE OF EVENTS for 10th Anniversary Governor’s Cup:
Friday evening: Boats may be dropped off at SYC. Practice runs and safety inspections from 3 pm to 5:30 pm. 6 pm MANDATORY Racers’ meeting in Wheel Room. Pre-Race Party with live music and complementary room from 6:30-9:00 pm at the Smyrna Yacht Club pool deck.
Saturday 8:00 a.m.: Coffee and donuts at the Tiki and warm-ups. Races begin at 9 am!
Saturday evening: 10th Anniversary Awards Ceremony, following conclusion of races, at SYC Tiki Bar. Cheeseburgers in Paradise & Other Tropical Delights (Food included for racers, nominal fee for others). Live music by Flip Flop Dave!

Below is a list of accommodations in or near New Smyrna Beach and Lake Placid. March is a busy time in Sunny Florida – with activities such as Daytona Bike Week and the 12 Hours of Sebring overlapping the Cocktail Class racing excitement! Hotel rooms will fill quickly!
Also, Smyrna Yacht Club is offering two spots for RVs during the Governor’s Cup race weekend. There is access to electricity, but there are no RV water or sanitary hookups. The club’s boater facilities are open 24 hours – including showers. Ice is available as well. Contact Lisa Merilson (poobahatlarge@ccwbra.com) if you wish to reserve an RV spot.
