Mid-Winter Regatta – Lake Placid – 2020 NOR

When dreary winter weather starts to wear thin on you in a few months, there’s no place like Sunny Florida in March for 2 fun CCWBRA races!

The first race, Governor’s Cup, will be held by Smyrna Yacht Club in New Smyrna Beach on Saturday, March 7th.  The second race will be in Lake Placid (on Lake Apthorpe) on Tuesday, March 10th.  Registration is open for both events!

Race registration is $50 per person through Monday, March 1st.  Registration goes up to $60 and will be available online through Wednesday, March 4th and also at the event on the Day of the Race!   

Schedule of Events

Monday, March 9th

4-6 pm:   Safety Inspections, Boat Testing

6 pm:       Dinner and Meeting (informal) at Bo David’s Restaurant, 131 South Sun n’ Lakes Blvd, Lake Placid

Tuesday, March 10th

8 am:       Registration and safety inspections

9 am:       Skippers’ Meeting – MANDATORY

9:30 am: RACES BEGIN!!

Noon:       Lunch (BYO)

12:45:       Races continue

After completion of races:   Awards Ceremony

6 pm:        Dinner at Golden Corral, 322 US 27, Lake Placid

Below is a list of accommodations in or near New Smyrna Beach and Lake Placid.  March is a busy time in Sunny Florida – with activities such as Daytona Bike Week and the 12 Hours of Sebring overlapping the Cocktail Class racing excitement!  Hotel rooms will fill quickly!

Also, Smyrna Yacht Club is offering two spots for RVs during the Governor’s Cup race weekend.  There is access to electricity, but there are no RV water or sanitary hookups.  The club’s boater facilities are open 24 hours – including showers.  Ice is available as well.  Contact Lisa Merilson (poobahatlarge@ccwbra.com) if you wish to reserve an RV spot.
