Marty, Make no mistake I’m not the boat builder my son Cameron is.. We started our quest last Fall. He was fortunate to drive a number of boats loaned to him over the past couple of years by other members .. He has won a few races and even the 2018 Nationals Late Classic’s.

Now at 46 years old his Knees are in pretty good shape. He has driven a number of different boats with different seat configurations. It hurts me to say and watch but he prefers knee pads and a bottom pad, no seat … I wear Fusion Braces and use a cane LOL!! Now If I could race I would do like the Crab Boat Guy’s do.. Have a “Lazy Boy” for a seat .. LOL!!  … TK

Ben, There are a number of racers who have knee problems… What they do is add a seat that they straddle like a Motorcycle seat (Kinda) this way you can clamp your thighs around it which you will need to in the “G” force turns you will be making  and not actually putting pressure on your knees .. .. The seat in the pic will be useless … You won’t stay in it after the first turn… Contact Fred Allerton… He has a pretty good set up for this kind of set up …

Everything looks good on your build … Do what you can do and all of you Texas Boys come on down to Tennessee .. trial and error then learn from your mistakes … Tennessee Moonshine “888”  is in the same boat … No Pun intended .. New for us but we will make the Nationals in our on rig this year..

You are on pace with your build … You have plenty of time to build and trial/test … Looking forward to helping and meeting you Guys !!

Remember, Bowie, Crockett, and Houston … All Came to the aid when needed … And nothing has changed ….  TK

Forest , If you will go to the top right of this page under (search forums) and type in #888 you will see some of the build from the beginning … I haven’t figured out how to add more than one pic in a post with out just keep adding replies …

My son Cameron is the boat builder, In some cases you may want to use .032 Stainless safety wire instead of the copper (to soft).  This works great when you may need to draw parts together …  Ask any questions and I will pass the along to Cam … We will be glad to help in any way… TK

Kim, I found this under recent replies … from a thread over a year ago “New Name for the Region”. This puts more light on the email I received from you.  Most of this  below was left out. As far as your question you need to talk to Chris .. As far as I m concerned the Appalachian to the Gulf Region is fine with me as well as the Moonshiners nick name … But there again contact Chris … TK

Southern Comfort is the nickname for the Southern Region which is Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Kansas area.

The “Appalachian Region” nicknamed Moonshiners for now is West Virginia, Kentucky, Tennessee, Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi, and Alabama.  You would like am updated Regional designation and keep Moonshiners or do you want a new nickname?   We could call it Appalachian to the Gulf Region since it has grown so big.

    Eight Regions so far:

    Southeast Region (FL,GA) – RUMRUNNERS

Carolina Region (NC,SC) – *Need a nickname still*

MidAtlantic Region (DE, MD, NJ, VA, PA) – *Need a nickname still*

Northeast Region (ME, VT, NH, NY, CT, MA, RI) – *Need a nickname still*

Pacific Region (OR, WA, UT, NE, CA, ID) – *Need a nickname still*

Southern Region (TX, KS, OK, NM, AZ) – SOUTHERN COMFORT

Midwest Region (MN, MI, MO, MT, WI, CO, IL, IN, IA, ND, SD) – BOOTLEGGERS

Appalachian Region (TN, WV, KY, AL, AR, LA, MS) – MOONSHINERS

Let me know if you have any other ideas!
