Skuas on the Lehigh 2018
It was another great race on Saturday, June 9, 2018! The weather was perfect and it was a FUN day of Cocktail Class racing on the Lehigh River! 13 racers and 10 boats showed up ready to race, along with some spectators, on a beautiful day on the Lehigh at Adams Island. It is a park like setting so on-lookers could enjoy the races from the shade.
WFMZ Channel 69 came out to cover the event! Check out the video here:
The races were eventful, with one DING, one FLIP and one MAN OVERBOARD but who’s counting!?!
Tom Kerr may have the distinction of getting the first ever Turtle Award – without actually getting wet! Thanks Pete! And Jaxson Shubert gets a Man Overboard sticker when they come in for getting tossed in the drink by Steve Brendlinger’s 999 Kamikaze around the first buoy. It took skill…to get back into the boat without flipping it over, but he was ready to keep on racing.
There were a lot of OVER-EARLYs, and timing with the current proved tricky and changed the outcome of several races.
Congratulations to all of the WINNERS! See the Race Results for official results from 2018 SOTL. CCWBRA Skuas on Lehigh 2018 RACE RESULTS
Thank you to the Race Directors, Fred Allerton and Tom Kerr and to Steve Brendlinger for putting on a great race!
