This is not exactly a cable question, but close. I got a Tohatsu 6hp engine a week ago (from Annapolis Inflatables, though they don’t have the group buy price anymore) and have it installed. I installed the remote conversion kit, but have a question about the wiring for the kill switch. The conversion kit comes with a wire for the kill switch, but it is not obvious from the parts diagram what it connects to. I am replacing an old OMC engine which had a kill switch located in the cockpit and a wire back to the engine, which I’d like to reuse. Any advice would be appreciated. I will post more information about the rest of the conversion shortly, as well as some pictures. I also reused the thrust bracket from the previous engine installation, and it looks to me like it works pretty well.

Marty, I will be very interested in what you have to do to modify the Brown thrust bracket for the Tohatsu motor, as I am about to order a Tohatsu 6hp to replace my old OMC engine. Looking at the online vendors, it looks like the Tohatsu model number for the 6hp has changed from what it was when the group buy happened. What I find now is “MFS6DWS”, which is the short shaft (15″) 6hp with external tank. Is that the same engine as what others here have?

The Kent Island Regatta was a lot of fun, and kudos to everyone who helped organize the day. Though Dark & Stormy (810) had more than its share of engine trouble, we still had a great time. Special thanks to Keith, Kimberly, and Tom Kerr (for loaning his #46 to Nyree when Dark&Stormy gave up the ghost). For those who haven’t been to the Kent Island Regatta, it is highly recommended.

Is the group buy still available? What is the price?

Thanks Sam. That is the source that someone mentioned to me.

Is there any consensus on what the engine angle should be? I’m using a 1968 Johnson 6hp engine that has a pretty substantial distance between the lower unit and the transom.
