A Brilliant Weekend Despite the Rain

We had 4 divisions with 29 boats participating at the 1st Annual Urbanna Cup Regatta:  6 HP open class, 6 HP heavy-weights, 8 HP opens, and our newest class – women’s.  Urbanna’s Double Cross, built and raced by the Bishop family, dominated the finals.  Brass Monkey (Lawrence Fuccella) and Oyster Shooter (Chris Riddick) were on their stern each race.  While Double Cross won the women’s division, Pickled Tink was by far the most fashionable finisher in the finals.  Anton Webre took the gymnastic award for his inverted aerial maneuver putting the bottom of Double Corss to the sky.  Our 2012 Nationals’ champion Russ Bowler took the podium again in the 8 HP class.  Robert Edmonds took second in both the 8 HP and 6 HP heavy-weight making him the low-scorer for the weekend.  New member Morgan Friday gave everyone a run for their money.  Morgan took first in Sunday’s River Run out the channel.  Team Racing on Sunday was a blast, with participants asking for encores at the end of the day.  Big thanks to the Race Committee for their endurance and unflappable sense of humor!  Check out the finals posting here:  Urbanna Cup 2013 Racing Finals.xlsx and the Gallery page for visuals.
